"Leaving my full time job after 18 years was very tough. Trying to find a job in research without experience was even tougher. I first met the Devon Consulting team at an open house. Being in the same job for so many years left me without interview skills and the confidence I needed to succeed. Devon made it easy. We practiced interview skills and typical questions. "My first experience with Devon was through a job fair for the pharmaceutical industry in October of 2001. I had recently completed my Bachelor's education, had taken a position that was poorly matched to my qualifications, education and experience and was desperately looking for something more fitting. Devon Consulting was a new name to me and the people at the booth seemed quite friendly and very helpful to my every question. I signed up and was quite surprised to hear by mid-November that they had an offering. When Jeanne and I first spoke several times on the phone, something clicked and we knew we would become friends. Not only did she give me confidence for my new career, she got me a contract. The thing that impressed me was that when I was contacted, I told her we would be visiting family in North Carolina and would be out of reach. She immediately secured a phone number and e-mail address so I could be reached in case the client wanted an interview. Sure enough, the day before Thanksgiving the e-mail came through and several phone calls followed. Upon return home, I would interview and take my first job through Devon. The Sunday before my first day, Faith called to say she would be meeting me at the client and introducing me around so I would feel comfortable, something I had never experienced before. And each week after I took that position, I would see Faith or Meredith in the lobby making more Devon individuals feel comfortable on their very anxious first day.
Anxious moments, unsure situations, questions at the client site, all of these situations were handled with ease in an effort to make me aware that Devon cared about their employees. The perks aren't bad either with the offering of earned hours each month toward time off, discounted movie tickets, luncheons to say hello to fellow employees, seminars and other events.
What began as a simple application at a job fare has become a solid relationship with new friends with whom I can discuss my career, my aspirations and who care about me as a person. Keep up the good work Devon. You're the best."
